In a diverse region like Iraq, inclusion and equality for Minorities are essential.
Through interactive sessions combining theory and practical skills, I completed the training for 25 minority journalists in the field of reporting, monitoring human rights violations, investigative journalism, case study, according to Iraqi laws and international standards.
The training was done in cooperation with the Civil Development Organization (CDO) and Metro Center for journalist rights and advocacy with financial support from the US consulate in Erbil.
The training covered 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that were analyzed from the participants’ point of view and social context, and Minority Rights in the framework of human rights
Participants got acquainted with the historical development of minority rights, minority protection mechanisms that operate under the auspices of the UN. The training discussed the legal protection of national ethnic, racial, and religious minorities in the Iraqi legal framework.
