The question of women’s political participation in Iraq could not be more timely after the uprising October 2019 revolutions and the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2021.

Political Participation is a Right, not a gift is a unique project implemented by Iraqi Al-Firdaws Society and supported by NPA Norwegian People’s Aid.

I have the pride to work on a holistic and comprehensive study that was prepared on the role of women in the Iraqi state institutions in Basra, State employees in the governmental nonmilitary institutions in Basra (civil institutions). It also included political participation as a fundamental right for women, the international framework constituting different international Treaties, conventions, covenants ratified by Iraq, and the challenges that women during their journey in accessing the leading positions were reflected.

In addition, a variety of statistical information from different institutions also reflected the percentage of women members and opportunities for training and empowerment, developments in these institutions.
