Human Rights Violations women face in work Place in light of the international Conventions

Happy to work with a group of passionate and influential women and girls on two consecutive workshops in Beirut and Baalbek on the manual “My Work is my Right” produced by Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering and Oxfam.

The training focused on the right to work as an essential human right that will help lift people out of poverty and injustice, allow them to assert their dignity and guarantee sustainable development. During the workshop participants were able to identify the factors that promote gender-based justice and equality in the workplace in Lebanon.

The training covered  to better understand the legislation and policies in place, with these main sections:

  • General overview of Lebanon’s commitments at the international, constitution, national policies and strategies level;
  • outline of main basic rights relevant to women in working place
  • Sexual harassment
  • protective laws relevant to labor adopted by Lebanon in the recent years
  • main procedural and structural obstacles affecting access to gender-based justice in the labor market and its consequences, and the obstacles that affect the most marginalized groups
  • Sexual harassment
