Advocacy Empowering Women for Political Participation

“Every important change in our society takes place because great people believe and advocate for their right and human dignity”.

It was an amazing experience to work with participants representing the ethnic, religious, age and political diversity in eight sub-districts in Ninewa: Ayadiyya, Bartela, Bashiqa, Mosul-city (Hay al- Arabi), Qaraqosh, Rabia, Sinuny, Zummar. I had the pleasure to train on an Advocacy Rights-Based Approach that supports peaceful co-existence and increases citizen engagement in conflict-sensitive reconstruction planning in Iraq. An inspirational recipe on how to plan and implement an effective advocacy campaign was induced.

The training was organized by PAX, Al Mesalla for Human Resources Development, and PFO (Peace and Freedom Organization), from 4-8 October 2020 in Erbil Iraq

Activists in the workshop knew that glass ceilings that women face in the workplace are a major problem, they believed that women must reach decision making, so they drew the path that needed to be followed. Empowering Women for Political Participation was highlighted to be a major common concern, in which women need to move from the political margins to the mainstream. They identified and analyzed the problem (PESTEL Model), analyzed the decision-making space, analyzed channels of influence (mapping stakeholders), did a SWOT analysis, designed advocacy strategies, and developed an action plan.

I was honored by this valuable trophy.

Advocacy leaders are running the advocacy campaign “woman is a decision-maker “  in 2020 and 2021,

I wish them all the best.
