Advocacy in Rights-Based Approach
National Campaign against domestic Violence in Iraq

  • Reflective space for challenges, creative ideas, and concrete strategies.
  • Knowledge and Awareness of the advocacy tools.
  • Practical skills empowered for launching.
  • لأسرة آمنةIs the title for the advocacy campaign that started by the end of the training.

This was the situation during the amazing experience with 22 women from four different governorates “Baghdad, Karkouk, Salah Deen, and Basra” who received training on advocacy. It was not intended to give an instructional recipe on how to do advocacy, but instead focused on how to plan and implement an effective advocacy campaign; in addition, to understand the different phases of an advocacy campaign and campaigning Cycle.

This training was organized to launch a national campaign that aims to promote women’s effective participation, strengthen their impact on decision making, and enable them to participate fully and effectively in transformational peacebuilding.

Vital topics were discussed related to the root causes of sexual gender-based violence and impunity for perpetrators. A very vital national advocacy campaign started in July 2019 and spreads now overall Iraq to advocate towards legislation a law against domestic violence.
