The partner’s advocacy conference was a three-day program that brought together ROTA’s partners (NGO’S, INGO’S & GOs) from the field, International and regional development, humanitarian agencies, private sector (CSR) in Qatar, and youths.

The intention was to jointly shape the Education Rights Advocacy Plan in the countries where ROTA / EAA operates. It was ROTA’s advocacy event with partners, that coincides with the development of ROTA’s 2019-2022 Strategic Plan which seeks to align advocacy across the fundamental components of the organization’s work.

The three-day program is split into two formats. The first day’s format was a platform for jointly conceptualizing and agreeing on key concepts, strategies, and approaches that would shape a unified plan for advocating for the right to education at multi-levels. Dr. Khouloud AlKhatib highlighted the conceptual issues, frameworks of advocacy for quality education. She discussed the Right to Education and the rights-based approach to programming and planning children’s education programs, focusing on the global advocacy landscape on education, protecting the Right of Education as the path to sustainable change, youth as advocates for education rights, and the Innovative advocacy tools needed. She mapped the challenges and identify priorities for advocacy areas across the countries where ROTA works.

The second and third days’ format was designed to establish a learning and planning platform for harmonizing and consolidating partners and other stakeholders’ capacity as well as jointly developing a plan for future action on advocating for access to quality education. Dr. Khouloud had two sessions of training on Rights-based approach mechanisms in a practical/technical day where 30 -40 practitioners from ROTA  parties participated in working group sessions to learn, strengthen their capacity, share experience, and produce a common advocacy agenda on the right to quality education.
