“When we decide to be active Voices, violations will no longer be unnoticed.”
Turning on their lens, Participants traveled from Basra (South of Iraq) to Sulaymaniyah (North) to discuss the causes of gender-based violence faced by Youth in Basra.
Youth: The situation and the Challenge
During the five workshop days, I was thrilled to train activists, youth, and governmental representatives, on planning and surveying the problems that youth face in Basra, mainly on schematic reasons: Employment and entrepreneurship, Protection of rights, Civic engagement and political inclusion, Education, Health facing marginalization, extremist ideologies, violence, etc…
The training was conducted by AlFirdaws Organization for Peace Building supported and the UN Women in October 2020 in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.
Coming from a complex and sophisticated society, the participants were well equipped with in-depth knowledge about their challenges and stood up against the harm and current trends in which the youth face in their community. In essence, a blueprint that identifies the major priorities was conducted in light of Resolution 2250.
AlFirdaws Organization for Peace Building is surveying youth in different areas in Basra and will release a study analysis for the finding in April 2021.
