Training journalists on the production of media content promoting Lebanese and Refugee women rights

Twenty-five senior and experienced journalists were targeted in three-day, from the 21st until the 23rd of September, training workshop on investigative journalism that was conducted within the framework of “Protection and Mitigation of GBV against Women and Girls in Lebanon among Syrian Refugees and Vulnerable Host Communities” project that was implemented by Fe-Male in partnership with ABAAD and funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Lebanon.

I was delighted to provide the journalists with the knowledge and technical information on GBV guidelines for the advancement of gender equality in their future projects, the right skills to conduct an investigative written or filmed report.

The workshop also aimed at providing tools for the participants to spread awareness and advance investigative reports on GBV while managing the investigative process in terms of risk management (experiential, case studies, pitching a story…). They also learned the means to verify the information, data and photos used in investigative reports and ways of integrating multimedia into your investigative reporting.

At the end of the workshop, I was supervising various investigative topics tackling child marriage cases, trafficking, bad living conditions in refugee camps, harassment at work and in universities, etc, so that five winning topics will be selected
